In 2012 I was lucky enough to visit a great friend briefly living in Iceland.
We travelled around the entire island. Walked along black sand beaches, stinky sulfur orange bubbling blue Earth mud, snow covered volcanoes, visited the Elven City (no kidding!), and hiked up many mountains.
One such mountain, just south of Seyðisfjörður I found all sorts of bones, feathers and sun-bleached crab claws scattered about in the moss and lichen. Sea birds capture the little crabs for a snack, carrying them high up into the mountains. Months, maybe even years pass and their little shells are bleached out...
This trip to Iceland was incredibly special to my heart. Once I returned home I remembered I had put some of the tiny claws into one of my pant pockets- they were still there so, I cast them in Sterling silver and want to share them with you here.
Little Icelandic sea charms.
This little claw is 2cm long from tip to ring and .5cm wide
